Novak takes SW19 glory whilst Sky's Thomas misses out on yellow

Novak Djorkovic famous for his impersionations of fellow tennis stars, put in a pretty good impression of a man at the very pinnacle of his game. His four set demolition of the former world number one and reigning Wimbledon champion (on a run of 20 matches unbeaten since 2007) was nothing short of staggering, in that Nadal didn't play badly, in fact he would have beaten most with his performance. It was more to do with Djokovic's ability to get to Nadal's forehands with lithe movement more commonly seen in dancers than tennis stars.
In a tight first set neither man refusing to budge until Nadal finally succumbed to the groundstrokes of Djokovic and the set was won 6-4. He then Raced through the second set with a display of tennis rarely seen by the knowledgeable centre court crowd, 6-1 and with 47/48 wins including 4/4 versus Nadal this season, Djokovic was looking invincible .
Nadal isn't a multi slam winner for nothing and a sensational fight back in the third set, (he repaid the punishment 6-1 ) gave course for concern for the new number one . Nadal again threatened at the start of the fourth, but with the game in the balance, an uncharacteristic service game handed Djokovic the break and the set and title was his a few minutes later.
Likeable, funny, eloquent. Literally looking down on the rest of the tennis world, there is a big future and a huge rivalry developing between the two. With Roger Federer still not quite done, one wonders whether Britain's number one will ever get a look in.

Best young rider in General Classification, Geraint Thomas

In the Tour De France, Sky Procycling missed out in the second stage by seconds in the team time trial and with it the hopes of Welshman Geraint Thomas to wear the much coveted yellow jersey. The performance of Garmin-Cervelo ensured that last years green jersey winner, Norwegian Thor Hushovd will wear the 'Maillot Jaune' at least for tomorrows stage. However the world champion is not a contendor for tour glory so to see Britain's Bradley Wiggins just four seconds adrift, and over one and a half minutes ahead of the controversial reigning champion, Alberto Contador, is reassuring after last years collapse. Britain's David Millar occupies second spot with Thomas in fourth, however big favourites Andy Schlek and Cadel Evans both had good days also, putting massive pressure early onto Contador.
